Public Alert | Boil Water Notice Rescinded

On September 16, 2026, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the City of San Saba public water system, PWS #2060001, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of September 17, 2026.

Special Announcement from the City of San Saba in Memory of Steve Newkirk July 9, 1972 – April 11, 2025

Steven Bryce Newkirk, Police Chief for the City of San Saba, passed away on April 11, 2025, at his home. He was born on July 9, 1972, in El Paso, TX, to Dale and Gayle Clemons Newkirk.

Visitation will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Services will be held at San Saba’s First Baptist Church on Friday, April 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.

Charitable donations may be made in Chief Newkirk’s name to fund police academy scholarships. Details are forthcoming.
